The Situation
White Rock Baptist Church is an active faith community with a facility spanning more than 28,000 square feet, including a worship center, an education building, church offices, and a daycare with an outdoor playground. Like many growing congregations, their security infrastructure had not kept pace with the demands of their facility.
The church had an existing 16-channel surveillance camera system that had become unreliable and outdated. Staff members in the main office could not clearly see who was at the entry doors when visitors rang the doorbell to request access, a basic but critical security need for any facility welcoming the public. Several cameras across the property had stopped functioning altogether, leaving key areas completely unmonitored. After a thorough site assessment conducted with the church's head security team member, it became clear that the problem extended beyond failing equipment. There were significant areas throughout the facility, including exterior entry points and high-traffic zones, that had never had camera coverage.
The congregation deserved better. So did their staff.
The Challenge
The core challenge was twofold. First, the existing system needed to be replaced with reliable, high-definition equipment that would actually perform. Second, the new system needed to expand coverage to areas that had always been vulnerable, not just restore what had existed before.
Key gaps identified during the site assessment included:
Entry points where staff had no visibility of who was requesting access
Parking areas with insufficient or no camera coverage
The daycare playground is a high-priority area requiring dedicated monitoring
Critical facility infrastructure, including major HVAC equipment, that was unprotected
Interior areas where existing cameras had failed and gone un-replaced
Our Approach
Advanced Carolina Technologies began with a thorough on-site assessment alongside the church's security team, not to sell equipment, but to fully understand the facility's layout, traffic patterns, and areas of greatest vulnerability. This collaborative approach ensured that every camera placement recommendation was purposeful and that the security team felt ownership over the solution from the very beginning.
Throughout the process, ACT took the time to educate church leadership and the security team on their options, explaining the differences between camera types, coverage capabilities, and system management tools in plain language. The goal was for the church to understand exactly what they were getting and why, so they could confidently operate and manage their new system long after installation was complete.
The Solution
ACT designed and installed a comprehensive camera system that addressed every gap identified during the assessment:
16 HD over-coax cameras replacing the existing failing units with high-definition coverage
6 additional IP cameras expanding coverage to previously unmonitored areas
UniView XVR camera system connects all cameras into one unified, manageable platform
Coverage areas: All exterior entry points, parking areas, daycare playground, and major HVAC equipment
55" monitor installed at the primary equipment location, giving security personnel clear, real-time visibility across the entire system
55" monitor and a dedicated mini computer installed in the main church office, allowing administrative staff to view and access the camera system directly from their workspace using UniView software
The result was a complete, integrated surveillance solution, not a patchwork of replacements, but a thoughtfully designed system built around how the church actually operates.
The Results
The impact was immediate and meaningful. Church staff and the security team now have clear, high-definition visibility of every entry point, all parking areas, the daycare playground, and critical facility infrastructure. The gaps that had existed for years were finally closed.
What stood out to the White Rock Baptist Church team wasn't just the quality of the installation; it was the experience of working with Advanced Carolina Technologies throughout the process. Leadership noted the professionalism of the ACT team from start to finish, the care taken to educate them thoroughly on their new system, and the quality of customer service delivered at every step.
The simplicity of the new system was equally important. Staff and security team members quickly became comfortable using the mobile app and desktop software to monitor cameras, giving them confidence and control without a steep learning curve.
White Rock Baptist Church has agreed to serve as a reference for Advanced Carolina Technologies, reflecting the trust built throughout this engagement.
